A positive rate of change indicates that a linear function is increasing. A negative rate of change indicates that a linear function is decreasing. Given two lines each with positive slope, the function represented by the steeper line has a greater rate of change. The initial value of a linear function is the value of the y-variable when the x value is zero.

Lesson 2 Classwork Linear functions are defined by the equation of a line. The graphs and the equations of the lines are important for understanding the relationship between the two variables represented in the following example as x and y.

Example 1: Rate of Change and Initial Value The equation of a line can be interpreted as defining a linear function. The graphs and the equations of lines are important in understanding the relationship between two types of quantities represented in the following examples by x and y. Q5: Elizabeth and Scarlett are playing a video game. The slope of a line tells us how something changes over time. If we find the slope we can find the rate of change over that period. This graph shows how John's savings account balance has changed over the course of a year. John may want to analyze his finances a little more and figure out about how much he was saving per month.

This is called the rate of change per month. We can't count the rise over the run like we did in the calculating slope lesson because our units on the x and y axis are not the same. In most real life problems, your units will not be the same on the x and y axis. So, we need another method! We will need to use a formula for finding slope given two points. If you've never used this formula before, please visit our page on using the slope formula.

Let's take a look at John's graph again. John would like to find out how much money he saved per month for the year. In other words, John wants to know the rate of change per month. We are finding out how much John's account changes per month on average. We can now use the slope formula to find the slope of the line.

The slope is the rate of change from one month to the next. Find the average annual rate of change in dollars per year in the value of the house.

Round your answer to the nearest dollar. For this problem, we don't have a graph to refer to in order to identify the two ordered pairs. Therefore, we must find two ordered pairs within the context of this problem.

I am given information about the year in which Linda purchased a house and the amount that the house is worth. Since these two items are related, I can write them as an ordered pair. So, instead of working with the actual year, we are going to use a substitution. This is most likely the initial year or the year the house was built.

Now let's take a look at one more example where all we are given is a graph. We must pay close attention to the graph in order to solve the problem. If the rate of change for interval A had remained constant throughout the whole marathon, how long would it have taken Karen to finish the marathon? There are 26 miles in a marathon. Notice that interval is from the beginning to 1 hour.

The first point is 0,0 and the second point is 1,6. During interval C, Karen took a break and stopped running. The three examples above demonstrated three different ways that a rate of change problem may be presented.

Just remember, that rate of change is a way of asking for the slope in a real world problem. Real life problems are a little more challenging, but hopefully you now have a better understanding. The slope of a hill is an important factor in determining the overall slope of the slope. Thus, this is the 5. If you are analyzing the slope of a slope and you would like to apply the term that was used earlier. Then the slope rate of change must be calculated. This slope rate of change is called the slope factor. The slope factor is the rate of change in the slope, the angle of slope.

It is not a simple linear relation between the slope and the rate of change of slope. Therefore, it is called slope rate of change. Slopes are usually defined as numbers that are shown in a graph.

These numbers indicate the slopes of the slopes. If the slopes are plotted on a graph, then the slope factor is the number that is applied to the graph. Thus, if you want to calculate the slope factor for a slope graph, then you have to convert the number of degrees that are on the graph to radians and use this to make the calculation.

You must use the slope factor when calculating slope factors. You can also compare the slopes of two slopes to find out the slope factor. Therefore, it is quite important for you to find out the slope factor. In this article, we will discuss the importance of finding the slope factor. There are many ways in which you can use the slope factor. These include the concept of the slope ratio, the first order approximation of the slope, and the weighted-slope approximation.

There are many other methods that are used to compute slope factors. Thus, you must know the factors that are used to compute these. You must consider the fact that the slope is the slope itself.

If the slope is constant, then the slope factor is also constant. You may even want to check the fact that the slope factor may increase with an increase in slope. It is quite difficult to compute the slope for a hill, but you can use the data to compute the slope factor. You can compute the slope for a given slope graph. It is very important for you to remember that slopes are usually defined as numbers that are shown in a graph.Teachers Pay Teachers is an online marketplace where teachers buy and sell original educational materials.

This time, though, Apple has opted for the Space Grey colouring, complete with a new Space Grey keyboard, mouse and trackpad.

The specs on the iMac Pro are incredible, particularly if you opt for a built-to-order model. Those working with 3D and VR, for example. But more than that, this iMac offers a machine that is going to be powerful enough for whatever is next.

You can find out more about what to expect from the iMac Pro here. The Mac Pro is long overdue a refresh, as it hasn't been updated since the launch of the 'trashcan' Pro model in 2013.

The once-futuristic device now looks a little long in the tooth, having been bypassed by generations of Intel chips that never made it into the chassis. In April 2017 Apple broke its silence and discussed the Pro's future with a small group of journalists, first apologising for the lack of updates and then acknowledging that the trashcan design didn't work out the way it had hoped. And so the machine ended up being very difficult to upgrade. Apple is working on what sounds like a radical redesign of its Mac Pro line.

We think WWDC 2018 is most likely, but some pundits believe it could be late 2018 or even early 2019Ah, Mac mini, where did it all go wrong. After being hobbled in 2014 by what can barely be considered an upgrade, Apple has left the Mini to fall fallow. Now we don't know whether 2017 will see a resurrection of its fortunes, but all here at Macworld are rooting for the little guy.

Read more in our new Mac mini rumours article. Recent photos reveal a mystery wireless device submitted to the FCC by Apple bearing the model number A1844. The mystery device, of course, caused huge stirs in the Apple community. However, while we'd all hoped it'd be a cool new Apple device, further investigation seems to suggest that it's nothing more than a badge reader that attaches to a door assembly, most likely for use in Apple Park.

There's a snap of the wireless device above, but those that want more information can check out the full FCC filing here. Apple has got quite a lot money, and armchair pundits love to spend the company's money for it. From time to time these suggestion-cum-predictions come true, as with Apple's acqusition of Beats in 2014, but it hardly needs stating that the company isn't in a hurry to divest itself of that cash cushion.

We do know of a few big deals that Apple has considered recently, though. The Financial Times reports that in May 2016 Apple sat down with Time Warner, one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world, and spoke seriously about an acquisition deal. The deal never got beyond the exploratory phase, but this does strongly suggest that Apple is in the market for an acquisition that will give it a foothold in video content - something that would prove valuable in the event that its rumoured TV-streaming service comes to pass.

With Time Warner apparently out of the picture, many analysts believe that the next target could be Netflix, but we're still in the realm of the mega-deal, so don't bet your live savings on the deal happening. The company is said to have had up to 1,000 developers working on the so-called Project Titan, and to have set up various different front companies, including Faraday Futures and Sixty Eight Research.

We'd love to see it on the roads in 2018, but industry chatter suggests 2020 is a more likely date. If this is correct, it might not be worth holding back on an interim upgrade to your existing run-around next year. That means you can have multiple revisions of your model in testing at once if you need to. It also makes it easy to have a production version of the model deployed while testing the next revision.

As with so much of developing machine learning applications, the availability of fresh data is often a limiting factor. You should develop strategies to split the data you have and collect new data to use for testing.

It might be changed in backward-incompatible ways and is not subject to any SLA or deprecation policy.

How it works The Cloud ML Engine prediction service manages computing resources in the cloud to run your models. Here is the process to get set up to make predictions in the cloud: You export your model using SavedModel as part of your training application. Note: You can use batch prediction to get inferences for a SavedModel that isn't deployed to Cloud ML Engine.

You format your input data for prediction and request either online prediction or batch prediction When you use online prediction, the service runs your saved model and returns the requested predictions as the response message for the call. Your model version is deployed in the region you specified when you created the model. Although it is not guaranteed, a model version that you use regularly is generally kept ready to run.

When you use batch prediction, the process is a little more involved: The prediction service allocates resources to run your job. The service restores your TensorFlow graph on each allocated node. The prediction service distributes your input data across the allocated nodes. Model deployment Cloud ML Engine can host your models so that you can get predictions from them in the cloud.

About models and versions Cloud ML Engine organizes your trained models using resources called models and versions. What's in a version. Naming models and versions Model and version names must: Contain only (case-sensitive) mixed-case letters, numbers, and underscores.

Begin with a letter. Contain 128 or fewer characters.

Alg HW A Day: Slope and Rate of Change

Be unique within a given project (for models) or model (for versions). There are no rules for names beyond those technical requirements, but here are some best-practices: Model names should be descriptive and distinctiveyou may need to pick them out of lists of many names in logs or reports. Version names are best kept short and simple. Model and version limits The Cloud ML Engine quota policy sets a limit of 100 models per project and limits the total number of versions (combined between all models) to 200.

Model deployment parameters Cloud ML Engine needs some information to create your model version. Version name A name for the new version that is unique among the names of other versions of the model. Description You can provide a description for your version. Deployment URI You must provide the URI of the Cloud Storage location where your SavedModel is stored. Cloud ML Engine pulls the model from this location and deploys it. This parameter is called --origin in the gcloud ml-engine versions create command.

Runtime version Cloud ML Engine uses the latest stable runtime version to deploy your model version unless you specify a different supported one.Bird Was Regina King snubbed for "Ray". Finding Slope And Rate Of Change

And thank you so much for taking the time to provide your feedback. We were so pleased to have travelled through the Swedish countryside and this was the best part of our time in Sweden. Our contact at Nordic Visitor was really helpful with all questions we had surrounding our holiday, which was invaluable to us, as we had not been on a holiday like this before.

Thank you for organizing a great holiday for us. In booking this holiday our consultant was very helpful in customising the trip to our needs. The service and attention to detail we enjoyed could not be faulted and prior to our trip, we felt no uncertainty with our upcoming schedule upon reading our itinerary.

Booking in winter allowed for an extremely affordable trip. We appreciated Nordic Visitor's eagerness to provide any assistance necessary and interest in our experience. We don't care about visiting the rest of the world any more, nothing beats Iceland. From booking the holiday, being met at the airport, exellent hotel and accomodation, the friendliness of all the people we met, exellent food and stunning country I can only say we are already looking forward to a return trip.

I booked a Nordic Visitor Tour for my partner's 40th Birthday just after Christmas and it was fantastic, we had such a great time. Nordic Visitor's staff were really helpful, there are really well organised. We received all the documentation we needed when we arrived at the hotel including a map, a guide tour as well as a mobile for ermergencies. The hotel we stayed in was very nice and very well located in the city centre although it was quite noisy with some bar or night club next to the hotel which kept us awake.

But that's the only complaint we would have as everything else was great. The holiday cottage was fantastic, lost in the wilderness, it was like staying in a ski chalet with its own hot tub outside. We rented a four wheel drive which was part of the package and here again no problem at all, the car was in prestine condition and I would definitely recommend a four wheel drive if you want to travel a little bit further as some of the roads can be challenging.

The highlight of our trip was spending New Year's Eve in Reykjavik. It was out of this world, an explosion of fireworks for at least two hours. It was probably one of the bestif not the best New Year's Eve we ever had. If by chance you are going at this time of year I would recommend watching the fireworks from outside the Cathedral, but beware if you have children as in Iceland there are no restrictions on fireworks and anyone can fire them from pretty much anywhere and we had a few passing by dangerously near.

But do not let this putting you off as there were fantastic firework displays. So overall, I would definitely recommend Nordic Visitor as a tour company as well as the Northern Comfort self-drive package. We are really hoping we can come back one day and see the Northern Lights as unfortunately we were not lucky that time. Our first experience with Nordic Visitor was in 2010 when we did a 14 day driving tour of Norway. We had an amazing time and were very grateful to the wonderful folk who organised it, we felt well supported though we had no problems.

We have just had our second experience with Nordic Visitor and this time we really got to know just how well supported we really were. Our 11 day driving tour of Iceland hit problems when extreme weather meant we were held up in Djupivogur half way around the island.

Our representative Bjorg rang us to make sure we knew that it was unsafe to drive any further north and we should wait out the bad weather. We ended up stuck for 3 nights and time constraints meant we did not have time to do the full ring road and needed to retrace our steps and head back to Reykjavic.

She arranged our alternative accommodation and emailed us an updated itinerary. We were thankful to not have any stress to ourselves in this regard.
